Ultrasonic assisted ultraviolet ballast water sterilization


    Many species of bacteria, plants andanimals live in the ballast water and its sediments. It is estimated that, inthis way, the ballast water loaded from one country's port will be dischargedinto the modified waters along with the ballast water when the ship arrives atanother country's port for loading. Some of these organisms could havedisastrous economic and environmental consequences.

At present, ultraviolet sterilization iswidely used in ballast water, Marine sewage and other water disinfection, thebacteria killing rate is more than 90%. However, in the actual ballast watertreatment application process, due to poor water quality, low light visibility,large bacterial content and other factors, it is easy to adsorb organic matter,biological mud, fine particles and other impurities on the quartz tube wall ofthe ultraviolet lamp, and work in the water quality with a certain hardness, itis easy to scale on the quartz tube wall, resulting in low ultravioletradiation energy and weak penetration. The sterilization efficiency is greatlyreduced and the sterilization effect is seriously affected.

In order to solve the shortcomings ofultraviolet sterilization alone, GINPERTEC has developed an ultrasonic ballastwater sterilization system to assist ultraviolet sterilization, forming a setof ultrasonic ultraviolet sterilization body. The treated filtered water entersthe ultrasonic ultraviolet sterilization body through the water inlet.Ultrasonic waves with a frequency above 20KHZ have a series of effects onwater, such as cavitation, mixing, cracking, oxidation, desulfurization,sterilization, algal destruction, cleaning, scaling and anti-scaling, etc.Ultrasonic cavitation generated by ultrasonic ballast water sterilizationsystem realizes auxiliary sterilization and degradation of organic matter, andlocal shock waves generated by ultrasonic ballast water sterilization systemcan make the treated water produce turbulence. Make water and ultraviolet raysmore fully and evenly contact to achieve bactericidal effect; At the same time,ultrasonic wave plays a key role in cleaning, descaling and anti-scaling of thecavity and quartz sleeve. Combined with the strong ultraviolet light withwavelength of 254nm to irradiate the water flow, further sterilization isrealized, so that the ballast water can achieve very good sterilization effectin a very short time.
