Ultrasonic immersion welding utilizes the principle of ultrasonic cavitation. During the welding process, vibration can generate voids in the molten pool. Components immersed in the molten pool are strongly corroded by the collapsing vacuum bubbles in the pool, forming a perfect welding layer on the surface of the component
During ultrasonic immersion welding, the heat generated by a separate energy source is used to melt the filler metal, and then ultrasonic vibration energy is added. The melted solder is used as the transmission medium for ultrasonic vibration. When high-frequency vibration energy is applied to melt welding, ultrasonic cavitation occurs on the surface of the welding tool to decompose and disperse surface oxides. The microbubbles of the air bubble rupture, cleaning the surface of the welded part to allow the moist solder to bond with pure metal.
Vibration also ensures that there are no gaps in the solder joints, and the vibration energy forces the liquid solder to enter the cracks and micropores in the substrate. It helps to seal the parts and increase the surface area where solder can bond. Ultrasonic vibration can also extrude bubbles from liquid solder, making the joint suitable for high vacuum environments that require airtight sealing.
